The Motivation for Investment in Offshore Plants: The Case of the U.S. Electronics Industry

Abstract

This paper examines the motivation of U.S. electronics companies in establishing plants in less-developed countries for the manufacture of products to be exported to the United States. The results of an analysis of trade statistics and interviews with executives are reported.© 1975 JIBS. Journal of International Business Studies (1975) 6, 51–66
