    Abstract

The first ¡°Transnational Corporations and Canada-China Foreign Direct Investment: Challenges and Opportunities¡± conference was held at the Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Ottawa, Canada August 2-3, 2007. This report documents conference discussions on the role of governments and TNCs in social and economic development. China's rapid integration into the global economy has created tremendous investment and trade opportunities between Canada and China. The conference was a forum for representatives from the policy, academic, and business communities to discuss these opportunities.
