Abstract
The new economy decrease the relative importance of the traditional productivity inputs, such as labour and natural resources, and emphasize the importance of the new drivers of economic growth. Technology becomes one of the main driving forces of economic growth in the new economy and the sources of comparative advantages occur in adoption technological, organizational and managerial innovations that boost the productivity. Meanwhile, the essential enabler of this process is information and communication technologies. This paper aims to investigate and assess potential development effects of new information and communication technology within the new economy and to determine its' economic importance for development. Special attention is paid to understanding how can governments reinforce its potential development impacts, creating an appropriate environment to encourage e-development by undertaking direct and indirect measures of interventions.
