Geography and the local public transport

Abstract

Cet article examine comment la géographie influe sur la performance des entreprises locales de transports publics en Italie. En utilisant des données sur 110 entreprises impliquées dans le transport urbain et interurbain, nous fournissons différentes estimations des frontières de coût stochastiques. Il en ressort que les variables géographiques influencent l’efficacité des entreprises. En particulier, nous constatons que le transport dans les régions métropolitaines et dans les zones de montagne révèle une perte d’efficacité de 15-21% et de 15-18%, respectivement.
