Abstract

Le manque d’archives familiales ou personnelles ne signifie pas nécessairement que toute recherche soit impossible sur un important magistrat. C’est précisément ce que nous montre le cas de Claude-Robert Le Roux d’Acquigny (1716-1788), président à mortier au parlement de Normandie. La meilleure façon d’entrer dans son univers est d’étudier les églises qu’il fit bâtir sur ses diverses seigneuries. Peut-être mieux encore que des lettres ou des mémoires, elles expriment comment il voyait la foi, la vie familiale et les devoirs du seigneur.
