Giacomo Becattini: un economista d.o.c

Abstract

Questo scritto presenta una interpretazione del lavoro di Becattini relativo ai distretti industriali. A dispetto dell'immagine "empirica" che il termine distretto evoca, in Becattini è una esigenza prevalentemente teorica a guidare la ricerca su questo tema. Si può anzi dire che, in Becattini, il "distretto industriale marshalliano" costituisce un concetto teorico che prefigura uno schema per una scienza economica diversa da quella prevalente. Questo ruolo alto, e la conseguente esigenza di una definizione rigorosa del "distretto", ne hanno decretato il successo; tuttavia alcuni dei punti di forza di questa costruzione intellettuale, alla lunga, si sono trasformati in debolezze. Ciononostante, il concetto di "distretto" ha permesso a Becattini di valorizzare una serie di aspetti rilevanti del vivere sociale in genere trascurati dalla economia "standard".
