Abstract

Small enterprises play an important role in the development of the economy in the Kingdom of Bahrain; therefore motivating them is one of the economic priorities of Bahrain. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the development needs of small enterprises and asses the adequacy of the incentives provided by the government. To this end, a group of people who had experience in starting and managing small enterprises was selected. The questionnaire brought up some noticeable findings that helped us identify the main motivating factors for starting emergent enterprises, as well as the positive and negative aspects of the incentives provided by the government. Furthermore, the findings revealed a number of obstacles considered by the respondent as detrimental to the growth of small enterprises.
