Abstract

The article considers Kazakhstan's economic policy in 1996-2007 and examines the correlation between economic development and the current account balance. Special attention is devoted to the analysis of macroeconomic efficiency. The data reveal that with high economic growth rates in Kazakhstan in 2000-2007, the annual net profits of foreign investors are 10-11 percent of gross domestic product. The article also analyzes the trend of a negative current account balance in favor of foreign investors.
