Abstract

Management has increasingly paid attention to the reuse of historical data that reflect changes of customers, suppliers and organisations themselves. In consequence, many organisations are continuously attempting to look for advantageous connections between organisational variables and use preference of data-based decision support technology (DBDST). This paper presents an empirical examination of preference of DBDST use in the financial service industry in Taiwan, including insurance companies, credit corporations, stock exchange corporations, agricultural and fishery banks, governmental banks and private banks. Organisational variables and data variables are examined in this study. There were remarkable results that competitiveness of the environment, support by the CEO, mode of decision making, intensity of data resource and learning in data significantly influence the DBDST use preference. Discussion and managerial implications are also addressed in this research.
