Abstract

Since their creation in 1979, the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) have been the source of numerous political and intellectual debates in China. Differences of opinion can be found on a wide range of subjects, from relatively technical problems of the daily administration of the zones to more fundamental questions of the nature of Chinese socialism. It is hoped that the articles translated here stake out the universe of discourse on the SEZs as it exists in China.
