Abstract

Many people take special care regarding their physical aspect that is directly related to self esteem. The external physical image of individuals seems to have a decisive influence on their behavior and own choices regarding personal and professional life. Consequently, we may assume that the aspect influences professional decisions and personal development. Moreover, individuals associate high self-esteem with positive social images. In this paperwork, we shall assess on one hand the motivation for which patients wish to carry out an esthetic surgery and on the other hand we shall examine the concept of “self” and “self respect” regarding persons wishing for body modifications compared to the general population by selecting a control group.
