Abstract

Planning, organising, coordinating, training, controlling and motivating, namely all the activities a manager does as a leader, have as common feature decision making. Therefore, one can say that the main instrument of a manager is the decision making. This article analyses the impact decision making has in research project management. The impact of decision making is described in every step of developing and implementing a research project: from identifying the research theme according to the call for proposals, to writing the proposal, identifying the partners, until the end of the project. In the same time, the article presents the caracteristics a project manager should have or should gain in order to be able to make the proper decisions in normal situations, but also in the research project’s key moments.
