Abstract

This research work is aimed at evaluating the impact of foundations on Spanish social-economic development. We have employed foundations located in the Principality of Asturias as the focus of the study. Three main implications are derived from the results obtained. Firstly, we have identified a set of appropriate variables to classify Spanish foundations. Secondly, we have valuated the contribution of this sector in terms of the region’s rates of employment. Thirdly, we have determined the foundations’ contribution to the region’s PIB.
