Abstract

There are many indexes to measure the degree of disability or personal autonomy. The most extended usually in medical scope do it partially, that is, they do not consider the whole set of disabilities suffered by a patient. This work tries to overcome this constraint and it is proposed and index that wholly reflect the disabilities taking into account the severity and the number of hours of care per week. So, for this reason, it can be used on all people affected by these problems. The results obtained by age and gender has been compared. Finally, the relation between the value of the index and the age is globally analysed and by gender.
