Abstract

A procedure to compare inequality between income distributions from a set of indicators is proposed. It also allows the evaluation of each indicator’s system of weights. This procedure is proved adequate to compare income-welfare level in such circumstances. Finally, it is used to compare inequality and income-welfare among Spanish regions between 1973 and 1991, using income data from the Spanish Survey of Familiar Budgets (EBPF), applying a mechanism to correct the observed underestimation of declared incomes.
