Abstract
In Spain young people increasingly postpone the moment of leaving home. This means we should ask ourselves whether this phenomenon is exclusively due to cultural factors or it is related to the Spanish labour market situation. Prior studies in other countries have pointed out that both the household formation and labour participation are decided jointly by young people. The purpose of this study is to determine whether these two decisions are related in the case of young Spanish people. The analysis was carried out for men and women separately, in order to compare differences in behaviour regarding the factors influencing both decisions.
