Abstract

This essay deals with the contribution of Seitz and Stackelberg on oligopoly. Stackelberg’s theory on price leadership has been taken up by Seitz in his dissertation of 1965. The author summarizes the debate in Germany in the beginning of the sixties on oligopoly theory between Krelle, Ott, Heertje, Helmstädter und Seitz. He looks back from a game theoretical point of view.
