This paper investigates the degree to which economic agents found credible the process of commercial-policy reform implemented in Chile during the period 1974-1979. Through microeconomic data, especially that referring to fixed-asset accumulation in sectors dedicated to exports and to import-substitution, one can conclude that, in general terms, there is evidence indicating that economic agents appeared to believe that these policy reforms would be maintained through time.
