Abstract

Ülkemiz, uzun yıllardır istikrarsız bir ekonomik büyüme yaşadıktan sonra, ilk kez 2002–2005 döneminde pozitif ve göreli olarak daha istikrarlı bir büyüme hızı elde etmiş bulunmaktadır. Yine önceki yıllarda kopuk olan büyüme-verimlilik artışı ilişkisi, bu son dönemde göreli olarak yatırım artışları ve yeniden yapılanmalar yoluyla birbirlerine pozitif yönde etkiler yapmaktadır. Bu ise, büyümenin sürdürülebilir olabilmesi için, en gerekli stratejiyi oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışma, MPM tarafından (Ekim 2005) “Türkiye’de Verimlilik, Büyüme ve Kriz” adıyla yayımlanmıştır. Çalışmanın temel amacı, uzun dönemde (1923 – 2003) ekonomik gelişim süresinde verimlilik artışının katkısının ortaya konulması, 2001 krizi ve sonrasında imalat sanayisindeki emek verimliliği ve diğer göstergelerdeki değişimin incelenmesi ve verimliliğe dayalı büyüme politikasının oluşturulmasına katkı sağlayıcı öneriler geliştirmektir. Bu yazı, söz konusu çalışmanın sonuç bölümüdür. Ayrıca Taymaz ve Suiçmez 20 Ekim 2005 tarihinde İktisat/İşletme ve Finans Dergisi tarafından düzenlenen “Türkiye’de Büyüme Sorunsalı ve Gelecek Sempozyumu”nda, bu çalışmanın bulgularına dayanarak sunum yapmışlardır
