Abstract

Yüksek enflasyonun en önemli maliyeti, hasıla büyüme oranında azalmaya yol açmasıdır. Söz konusu etkinin ortaya çıkması esasen, yüksek enflasyon oranlarının gelecek dönem enflasyonuna ilişkin belirsizliği artırmasından kaynaklanmaktadır. Dolayısıyla, enflasyon ile enflasyon belirsizliği arasındaki bağlantının araştırılması özellikle yüksek enflasyon ülkeleri açısından büyük öneme sahiptir. Enflasyon literatüründeki gerek teorik gerekse ampirik çalışmaların önemli bir kısmı, yüksek enflasyon ile enflasyon belirsizliği arasında güçlü bir bağlantının varlığını ileri sürmektedir. Bu çalışmada enflasyon ile enflasyon belirsizliği arasındaki ilişki, Türkiye ekonomisinin 1983-2003 dönemine ilişkin enflasyon verileri esas alınıp, ARCH-GARCH ve TARCH yöntemleri kullanılarak araştırılmıştır. Yazarlar, söz konusu dönemde enflasyon ile enflasyon belirsizliği arasında güçlü bir ilişkinin olduğu sonucuna ulaşmışlardır.
