La desigualdad salarial en España: Una perspectiva internacional y temporal

Abstract

El artículo examina a partir de microdatos emparejados empresa-trabajador de carácter armonizado la desigualdad salarial en España y sus determinantes desde una doble perspectiva, un análisis comparado internacional y el examen de su evolución con el transcurso del tiempo. Entre las peculiaridades más significativas de la estructura salarial española desde una perspectiva internacional destaca que las características que presentan trabajadores y empresas están asociadas a niveles de desigualdad salarial comparativamente mayores, mientras que la forma específica en que se remuneran dichas características induce niveles relativos de desigualdad significativamente menores. El análisis empírico también revela que el grueso de la reducción que experimentó la desigualdad salarial en España en el período 1995-2002 se explica de forma mecánica por cambios en las características de los agentes económicos.
