Abstract

The paper illustrates the complexity of data management in organisations, which are moving from simple database access architecture to a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). The practical application of Topic Maps as a knowledge management tool in an SOA setting to capture/search/use existing data and use it in different contexts based on the user is illustrated using Amazon's software architecture as an example.
