Abstract

In this work we try to examine the possibility of cataloguing the organizational structure of firms according to the mechanical and organic models established by Burns and Stalker, from the measurement of the three main structural dimensions, that is to say, formalization, complexity and centralization, using the technique of cluster analysis. In this sense, the grouping obtained by this analysis has been validated using three different procedures with which it is tried to reduce the associate subjectivity of this technique. The study is complemented with the analysis of reliability and validity of the measures derived for each one of the mentioned structural dimensions. We carried out these analyses in a different enterprise context, so that the confirmation of the findings of previous studies allows contributing to his generalization.
