    Abstract

International firms need an appropriate management of the repatriation process. However, this aspect of an international assignment has been neglected over the years both by the human resource managers and by the research community. Inefficiencies in the repatriation management can imply the loss of high qualified workers and also a lot of other financial losses. After reviewing the theoretical and empirical literature regarding the repatriation process, we propose different lines of research in order to find interesting conclusions and recommendations that can be applied in international organizations to improve their international human resource management.
