    Le journalisme est aujourd’hui en crise, menacé à la fois par la communication des acteurs politiques et économiques, et par la prolifération, grâce aux médias numériques, d’une foule d ‘autres modes d’information. Le journalisme, qui eut pendant deux siècles le privilège d’informer, a inventé trois choses : une nouvelle temporalité, la périodicité ; un nouveau rapport au territoire ; et un mode de relation original à ses lecteurs. Pour comprendre la crise contemporaine, il faut à la fois comprendre la stratégie des acteurs qui lui font concurrence, et les modalités propres du « discours » d’information. Il n’y a certainement pas d’essence du journalisme, mais une identité discursive, changeante selon les temps, qui est actuellement fortement menacée sur les trois piliers qui ont fait son originalité, et son succès.
