Abstract

This paper provides an introduction to the main questions involved in intrafirm capital allocation decisions and briefly reviews the three remaining papers in the Corporate Investments Special Issue of Financial Management, as well as some related literature. The focus is on the effect that asymmetric information has on the selection and financing of projects. By asymmetric information, I mean that two parties to a transaction are unequally informed about some outcome.
