Fiducia verso persone e istituzioni: evidenze da una survey sul capitale civico degli studenti

Abstract

Secondo la teoria economica il capitale civico ? il risultato di un processo di investimento sociale che avviene attraverso canali di trasmissione verticale interni alla famiglia e orizzontale nella socializzazione tra pari. Il contesto di riferimento, quale per esempio il quartiere, gioca un ruolo importante influenzando entrambi questi canali. In questo contributo, vengono presentate alcune prime evidenze ottenute da un?in?dagine statistica condotta sugli studenti delle scuole secondarie di secondo grado della citt? di Palermo con lo scopo di misurare le principali dimensioni che concorrono alla formazione del capitale civico e umano. In particolare, viene qui posta l?atten?zione sulla fiducia, un particolare tratto culturale alla base del capitale civico. Nello specifico, si opera la distinzione tra fiducia verso persone (famiglia, insegnanti, amici, vicini ecc.) e fiducia verticale o verso istituzioni (Stato, scuola, istituzioni religiose ecc.). Lo studio, di carattere prevalentemente empirico-descrittivo, si pone dunque l?obiettivo di misurare il grado di fiducia degli studenti e di investigarne l?eterogeneit? territoriale. In generale, la fiducia emerge come un tratto culturale caratterizzato da legami "forti", stabiliti attraverso le relazioni di maggiore intensit?, dove all?elevato grado di fiducia verso familiari, amici e insegnanti, viene anteposta una generale sfiducia verso persone e istituzioni caratterizzate da legami deboli. Dall?analisi spaziale ? possibile evidenziare differenze statisticamente significative nel confronto tra gli studenti residenti in citt? e quelli residenti in provincia e successivamente tra gli studenti residenti nei diversi quartieri della citt?. Tali differenze sembrano anche emergere considerato il livello di istruzione degli adulti di riferimento a casa. Vista la natura preliminare di questi risultati, si ritiene necessario svolgere analisi future pi? dettagliate al fine di identificare meglio i meccanismi di trasmissione dei valori e il ruolo della scuola e delle istituzioni locali nel favorire la formazione di capitale civico.
