Kosten-baten analyse van het vervangen van een geregeld kruispunt door een rotonde

Abstract

In België sterven er jaarlijks 1.500 mensen het verkeer. Een groot deel va deze ongevallen gebeurt op kruispunten. De rotonde lijkt een middel om het aantal slachtoffers te doen dalen. In dit werk beschouwen we de effecten van de ombouw van een geregeld kruispunt tot een rotonde. We willen weten of het economisch efficiënt is om een bestaand, geregeld kruispunt te vervangen door een rotonde, meer bepaald of de baten opwegen tegen de kosten. Het artikel komt tot het besluit dat de omvorming van een geregeld kruispunt tot een rotonde een netto baat oplevert voor de maatschappij. De omvorming zorgt voor een vlotter en veiliger verkeersafwikkeling. De baten hiervan wegen op tegen de toegenomen milieukosten en de aanlegkost. Sensitiviteitsanalyse toont aan dat de resultaten zeer robuust zijn voor veranderingen in ongeval-, tijd- en infrastructuurkosten
