Abstract

Na busca por maior competitividade para o enfrentamento da nova conjectura econômica, desencadeada pela globalização, as ferramentas de marketing tornam-se cada vez mais indispensáveis para os gestores urbanos. São tidas como um componente fundamental para construção e transmissão de uma imagem atrativa para uma determinada localidade. A projeção dessa imagem, que surge associada às potencialidades do próprio lugar, pode gerar uma percepção de valor, com capacidade para atração de mais investimentos, turistas, visitantes, entre outras muitas oportunidades. Este trabalho, portanto, tem como objetivo analisar a cidade de Governador Valadares como "capital mundial do voo livre", e suas condições favoráveis à prática do esporte. Procura refletir se, de fato, acontece o real aproveitamento dessa potencialidade, e, se as ferramentas de marketing para um território têm sido corretamente aplicadas na região. Desse modo, pretende ser para a localidade mais um instrumento de diagnóstico para um posicionamento competitivo.
