Turismo Y Desarrollo: Dos Conceptos Revisitados Y Una Pretendida Relación Causal

Abstract

El autor del breve artículo que acabo de transcribir es Eduardo Fayos-Solá, sin duda uno de los turisperitos españoles más conocidos internacionalmente. Doctor en economía por la Universidad de Valencia, ha realizado estudios en universidades de USA (Minnesota) Reino Unido (Oxford) y Suecia (Estocolmo). Además de ser profesor titular de Economía Aplicada en la Universidad de Valencia, ha sido profesor asistente en la de Estocolmo y director de recursos humanos de la OMT. El turismo es una materia a la que se dedica desde hace varias décadas. Conocí al profesor Fayos-Solá gracias a mi asistencia al congreso que organizó en la sede del BBVA de Madrid, creo recordar que en el año 1989, fecha en la que no hacía mucho que Información Comercial Española había publicado mi primer trabajo sobre el turismo. El prof. Fayos – Solá, habitualmente muy bien informado, lo conocía y hasta tuvo la gentileza de destacar su interés desde la mesa presidencial del acto y de recomendar su lectura a los asistentes. Estaba a punto de ser nombrado Director General de Turismo en el Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Turismo del Gobierno de España.
