Agua De Vida, Agua De Mueres". La Cuestión Del Agua En La Agenda Indígena Internacional

Abstract

El agua constituye un componente fundamental de las culturas y reivindicaciones indígenas vivas y activas en el siglo XXI. Por su cercanía a y dependencia de entornos naturales delicados los pueblos indígenas (PIs) son los primeros en percibir y sufrir las consecuencias de la expoliación de los recursos y la contaminación del agua. En el siglo XXI, además, el agua constituye tanto un recurso de vida como una amenaza para los pueblos indígenas. Esta doble dimensión coloca al agua en el centro de sus reivindicaciones como parte fundamental de sus territorios. La paradiplomacia indígena ha conseguido impulsar una nueva visión internacional de los PIs y su relación con la Naturaleza. Esta nueva visión, presente en importantes documentos internacionales, reconoce la importancia de reconocer los derechos sobre la tierra y el territorio de los PIs como punto de partida para cualquier iniciativa compartida de Desarrollo Sostenible. Cualquier iniciativa a favor en defensa del agua debe contemplar la rica y compleja relación entre el este recurso natural y los PIs.
