Los Puertos En México Y La Política Económica Portuaria Internacional

Abstract

Los puertos marítimos destinados al embarque y desembarque de grandes volúmenes de carga son otra parte importante de la infraestructura de México. El aumento del transporte de mercancías por vía marítima, y la ventajosa posición geográfica de México al tener más de 11,000 kilómetros de costa en los litorales del Pacífico y Atlántico, brindan a los puertos mexicanos la oportunidad de explotar el tráfico marítimo en la zona y aprovechar su vecindad con Estados Unidos, la primera potencia económica del mundo. Sin embargo, a pesar de contar con más de 20 grandes puertos de altura que moviliza grandes volúmenes de productos petroleros, agrícolas y minerales, cumplir con estándares internacionales de seguridad y estar provistos con equipos de alta tecnología para la revisión de mercancías, los puertos nacionales padecen burocracia, tramitología, falta de inversiones y descoordinación.
