Abstract

Cuba es el país del Caribe que cuenta con el mayor número de sitios inscritos en la Lista del patrimonio Mundial y ya lleva un cuarto de siglo de experiencia en su manejo desde que en 1982, La Habana Vieja y su sistema de fortificaciones ingresaron a la Lista del patrimonio Mundial. En 1999 el Valle de Viñales se convirtió en el primer paisaje cultural reconocido por la UNESCO en toda la región americana. La declaratoria de Viñales vino, luego del reconocimiento del Valle de los Ingenios y la Ciudad de Trinidad en 1988. Viñales constituye un complejo natural y paisajístico cuyas excepcionales características le hacen trascender al plano internacional.
