La Generación Perdida

Abstract

La expresión “la generación perdida” fue originariamente acuñada por la escritora norteamericana Gertrude Stein, se le aplicaba a aquellos escritores norteamericanos que lucharon en la I Guerra Mundial y después, o bien a los que permanecieron en Europa o a los que regresaron. Hemmingway decía que tal expresión se la había oído Stein a un mecánico al llamar a su aprendíz, el cual había luchado en la I Guerra Mundial. Ella la trasladó y la aplicó a aquellos escritores norteamericanos que se congregaron en Paris. (Epígrafe de Fiesta, Hemmingway 1926).
