Abstract

En la actualidad los medios de comunicación –mass media–ha adquirido tanta importancia e influencia en la sociedad que se les ha calificado como el cuarto poder. Esta importancia surge de la necesidad de información que en nuestros días demanda la sociedad de consumo. Los medios de comunicación son muchos y variados; cada uno precisa un código específico para emitir sus mensajes. Así la radio, medio auditivo, recurre a la palabra oral, a los sonidos; la televisión, audiovisual, combina imagen (fija y en movimiento) y sonido; y la prensa, medio gráfico, combina en sus mensajes ilustraciones y lengua escrita.
