Abstract

Para Douglas las percepciones y las anomalías se relacionan no con la naturaleza en sí sino con un sistema de clasificación previo. La idiosincrasia cultural clasifica a su manera que elementos encajan en tal y/o cual lugar. Douglas está interesada en estudiar el rol de la metáfora y la anomalía como modos comparativos entre el orden cultural y natural. Al respecto, el autor afirma “la mayor parte de los análisis del simbolismo de los animales muestra un reino animal como una proyección o una metáfora de la vida social”
