Apertura del comercio mexicano del tomate: un modelo espacial con precios endógenos

Abstract

Se estiman los posibles impactos de la liberalización mexicana del mercado del tomate en el consumo, producción, flujos comerciales y precio; para ello, se construye un modelo de equilibrio espacial con precios endógenos, en el cual se modelan los acuerdos comerciales firmados por México con Estados Unidos, Canadá, América Latina y la Unión Europea. Se encuentra que en el ámbito mundial, los flujos comerciales se incrementan, pero los beneficios sociales netos son intrascendentes; mientras que en lo particular, la apertura comercial del mercado mundial del tomate es benéfica para los productores mexicanos.
