Abstract

The present paper offers a global presentation of the New Institutional Economics (NIE) approach in order to show that a new consensus seems to be in the process of emerging since, as the new institutionalists themselves state, the new advances “seems to be in the direction of a more flexible and comprehensive model of political economy” in which attention is also paid to the distributive consequences derived from the existing institutional frame-works.
