La condición imperial

Abstract

El presente estudio propone debatir dos cuestiones correlativas: el problema del imperialismo, visto desde la ventajosa perspectiva de la experiencia y el conocimiento contemporáneos, y el problema del "imperio estadunidense", observado a la luz del análisis anterior. El tema del imperialismo, aunque no en sus acepciones modernas, ha sido motivo de especulación desde los comienzos de la reflexión sistemática en relaciones internacioanales, con Herodoto. También se ha visto sometido, con el correr del tiempo, a formas alternativas de discusión abierta y subestimación académica. En la época actual, probablemente el interés por el tema se encuentra en su máximo nivel histórico, mientras que hace apenas unos decenios casi se lo ignoraba, excepto en los círculos marxistas que todavia no eran académicamente respetables...
