¿Declinación o histéresis? El caso mexicano

Abstract

El objetivo fundamental de este artículo es examinar las propiedades del producto interno bruto per capita de México en el largo plazo. En particular veremos si el PIB sigue un camino aleatorio o es por el contrario un proceso estacionario autoregresivo alrededor de una tendencia lineal determinista. Aunque hay consenso acerca de que el PIB no es estacionario, no lo hay acerca del método que pueda utilizarse para obtener la estacionariedad de la serie del PIB. Podemos distinguir dos métodos populares. El primero elimina una tendencia determinista y luego ajusta una representación de series de tiempo de los residuos. El segundo método consiste en diferenciar la variable(el nivel o logaritmo) y ajustar un modelo de series de tiempo de las diferencias, más que de las desviaciones de la tendencia...
