Abstract

El alza de los precios del pétroleo acontecida en 1973 puso fin a la más reciente fase de expansión del excepcional ciclo de crecimiento iniciado después de la segunda Guerra Mundial. Luego de un periodo tan largo e impresionante de bonanza -la producción industrial de los países de la OCDE se quintuplicó por ejemplo entre 1947 y 1973- era natural interpretar las dificultades de mediados de los setenta como problemas coyunturales manejables dentro de los marcos ya establecidos. La profundidad y la gravedad del problema sólo se puso de manifiesto a partir de la segunda ola alcista de los precios del petróleo y de la subsiguiente recesión a comienzos de los años ochenta...
