Comparación del poder de predicción de un modelo macroeconométrico por componentes principales bietápicos y por mínimos cuadrados

Abstract

I. Introducción. El uso de modelos econométricos, a pesar de sus limitaciones, ha cobrado importancia en años recientes por la necesidad de contar con instrumentos cuantitativos de análisis con fines de planeación, programación y pronóstico macroeconómico. Asimismo, el uso de modelos permite dar congruencia global a los ejercicios de simulación una vez consideradas las interrelaciones básicas entre los diversos mercados que conforman la economía. Así, con la simulación del modelos es posible evaluar el efecto macroeconómico de diferentes panoramas de política económica y diversas consideraciones externas, así como cuantificar las probables dificultades que presenta un programa de estabilización sobre las variables objetivo elegidas. Por ello es vital desarrollar un modelo que incorpore no sólo los elementos teóricos que coadyuven a una adecuada especificación de las ecuaciones, sino también las características especiales de los diversos mercados de los países en vía de desarrollo y de México en particular...
