Abstract

In recent years Western democracies have witnessed an increase in election abstention and a significant drop in affiliation rates for both political and concerning parties. The lack of interest, the scepticism and the separation of citizens from traditional politics, based on the participation through the parties, big corporate organizations and elections point towards a certain stagnation of predominant democratic models. More strategic and shared policies are needed, not as a means to a quick get out of the crisis but as a means to better the adaptation ability of a new stage. Accepting the complexity in the way the government do things, means articulating the diversity and the fragmentation mechanisms of coordination or integration.
