Anderson localization in a superstring model representation

Abstract

Anderson localization has been considered via the nonlinear σ model. We consider the possibility that the Anderson localization is formulated in a superstring model, based upon the finding that the β-function of Anderson localization coincides with the β-function of the space-time supersymmetric nonlinear σ model. We recover the recent four-loop result by Wegner. By the equivalence of the β-function of Anderson localization to the supersymmetric nonlinear σ model, a possible conjecture about higher order terms is discussed. The difference between the orthogonal case and the unitary case is investigated in terms of the supersymmetric nonlinear σ model. The advantage of the formulation in terms of superstring model is emphasized for the study of Anderson localization.
