Abstract

Fünfundzwanzig Wellen SOEP - das ist ein Vierteljahrhundert an Erfahrungen mit einer Längsschnitterhebung, mit der Aufbereitung sowie der Analyse von sozial-, wirtschafts- und verhaltenswissenschaftlichen Haushalts-Paneldaten. Dieses Heft nimmt die 25. Erhebungswelle des SOEP im Jahr 2008 zum Anlass, um nicht nur eine aktualisierte methodische Gesamtdarstellung des SOEP zur Verfügung zu stellen, sondern erstmals auch die "Geschichte des SOEP" von den Anfängen bis zum heutigen Zeitpunkt zusammenfassend darzustellen. Damit wird zugleich ein Stück Wissenschaftsgeschichte der Bundesrepublik geschrieben; nämlich im Hinblick auf die empirisch orientierten Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften sowie die Verhaltenswissenschaft. Die historischen Beiträge würdigen nicht zuletzt auch das Wirken einzelner Akteure im Rückblick, ohne die das SOEP nicht seine heutige Gestalt und seinen Stellenwert in der internationalen Forschungsinfrastruktur gefunden hätte.
