Datos para un estudio urbano —y riqueza— en el Corregimiento de Tarragona en la primera mitad del siglo XVIII

Abstract

Los registros de un total de doce catastros han servido de base documental para el estudio de los núcleos urbanos del Corregimiento de Tarragona en la primera mitad del siglo XVIII. Cronológicamente, corresponden al período en general de alza económica, entre 1724 y 1757.El catastro, como es sabido, contenía una parte personal, impuesto que recaía sobre el rendimiento de las personas físicas; otra ganancial, sobre beneficios, y otra real. Este gravaba las tierras, rentas, casas y otras dependencias; tenía un carácter universal y preferente sobre cualquier otra imposición fiscal.Los inmuebles —casas, fábricas, molinos, etc.—, según el Decreto de Patiño (1716), abonaban el 10 por 100 de las rentas, calculadas según los rendimientos de los alquileres efectivos o consumidos; los primeros eran las casas alquiladas, en un sentido neto, y los segundos, las habitadas por sus propietarios.
