Abstract

Abstract: This text presents the conclusions of a research, carried out by the Research Group on Economics and Business, made during 2002 (second semester), applying the methodology of the Business cycle enterprise policy to explore the differences of profits in Colombian service sector enterprises, from 1995 to 2002. Using a variance decomposition procedure (VARCOMP), a statistical method that allows to establish the share of certain factors (named "effects") in the variance, we find the following results: the enterprise effect explains 47% of the variance, the sector effect is 3% while the year effect counts just for 1%; error effect (the share unexplained by the model), represents 49% of the variance.
