Abstract

Abstract. Colombia's armed conflict, going on since the 1960´s, has left behind destruction of a fair amount of the country´s physical and human capital. In this paper, we review the literature on guerrilla violence (FARC, ELN and AUC) and economic growth both at the national level and, especially, at the department level. To do so, we review conclusions from all mayor papers on the subject and construct an index of violence related to each group at the department level between 1988-2005 using principal components.
