La competitividad de los servicios turísticos informales en Cartagena

Abstract

Este trabajo examina el estado actual de las ventas callejeras dentro de la cadena de servicios turísticos en Cartagena, Colombia. Se repasan las experiencias exitosas en el manejo de las ventas informales en ciudades con circunstancias y contextos similares. Con base en una encuesta que permite caracterizar y analizar la competitividad a través de las cinco fuerzas propuestas por Porter, se muestra el bajo nivel de competitividad de los vendedores informales. Las dos fuerzas competitivas que mayor incidencia tienen en esta actividad son la amenaza de productos sustitutos y la rivalidad entre los competidores, por la poca diferenciación y bajo valor agregado de los productos y servicios ofrecidos. Por lo tanto, se presentan estrategias de mejoramiento y una propuesta de ciudad con acciones para la recuperación del espacio público, consiguiendo con ello mejores condiciones de comercialización para los diferentes eslabones de la cadena turística de la ciudad.
