La conciencia moral o civil en el pensamiento de Adam Smith y John Stuart Mill

Abstract

El propósito de este artículo es el de revisar la concepción sobre la conciencia moral o civil a partir de los planteamiento de Smith y Mill. Para cumplir este objetivo es necesario preguntarles a los padres de la economía: ¿cómo pensaron al hombre?, ¿cuál es el verdadero significado del homo economicus dentro de su arsenal teórico?, ¿es el hombre por naturalezaun ser egoísta, un ser altruista o una combinación de ambos?, ¿qué debe hacerse para lograr una mejor sociedad, es decir, un conjunto de relaciones sociales morales placenteras? La búsqueda de una respuesta a estos interrogantes permite evidenciar que la conciencia moral social exige del ser humano el accionar desinteresado, es decir, no fundamentado en el egoísmo propio sino en el actuar social casi natural y desinteresado
